When I was first introduced to breathwork, I’m not gonna lie – I resisted it. Often times our bodies put up this protective layer because it wants to protect us from things that make us feel out of control aka: change. Even though there can be so much healing on the other end, change can be scary – even if it is shedding old patterns or releasing things that weigh us down!

I’m so proud of you for showing up for yourself in this session and your commitment to healing your heart.

Before Our Session

Since you will be actively breathing, I recommend not having a heavy meal within 2-3 hours before your session. I also recommend not doing a strenuous workout within an hour of your session.

Set the environment

Pick a cozy spot where you can be laying down flat. A bed or yoga mat on the floor is perfect. A flat pillow is great for neck support. I like to wear super comfy clothes as well as have a cozy blanket to cocoon myself in.

Helpful Tools

Here are some things that I like to have handy that enhance my experience. By no means are these required and feel free to swap out any of these with items that make you feel more comfortable!

1 – Water. Since we are actively breathing, its helpful to have some water close by

2 – Palm Stones. As we breath and move energy around, our hands can sometimes get a little cramped as you release any built up tension/emotions. Having something to hold in my hands is helpful. If you dont have any stones at home, you can also use small towels or anything you can hold comfortably in your hands.

3 – Journal. I get some of my best wisdom during my breathwork sessions. I like to have a journal close by so I can write stuff down while it’s fresh in my mind to refer back to later

4 – Eye mask. Covering our eyes helps with any outside distractions and helps us go inward. If you dont have an eye mask you can also use a small towel or pillowcase.

Time to breathe!

A typical session lasts about an hour with 20-30 minutes of active breathing and the remainder of the time in meditation and setting intentions.

See you at the next session!
